WELCOME TO THE TUNNEL INN

and our 2013 SCHEDULE

We are now open daily until November 23rd.

The really big news is the return of Nickel Plate Berkshire #765 to the Horseshoe Curve with employee trips on the weekend of May 18th & 19th (2 per day), and railfan excursions on May 25th, 26th and 27th. All of the trips will pass right next to the Inn. The weekends are  sold out, but we are keeping a waiting list in case of cancellations.

Fathers Day is June 16th, and to honor those fathers who are also railfans we are offering a Fathers Day Special. Two nights, Friday and Saturday, for two people for $225.00 and Dad receives a complimentary print of "Summit Meeting", a limited edition print signed by Peter Lerro, the renowed PRR artist.

This summer we will once again have our Junior Railfan days, when children and grandchildren under the age of ten can come and watch the trains.

Dates are June 24th and 25th, July 8th & 9th and 22nd & 23rd, and August 5th & 6th and 19th & 20th. This is a great way to spend quality time with the children, and let them experience a unique part of American history and industry.

Please call us if you have specific questions about any of the dates at (814) 884 - 2975

Standard rates are $130 + tax per night on weekends for two people, and $85 + tax for single occupancy. During the week from Monday to Thursday guests can enjoy a two night stay for $225 + tax for a savings of over $35.00, or buy enough gas to allow most folks to travel over 200 miles.

Weekend only reservations require a two night stay.

There is an additional charge for more than two guests in a room, as well as in AR Tower, our largest room.

If you have any questions, please call the Inn or use the link at the top of our website to send us an e-mail, and we will respond promptly.

Whether you're planning a trip to Aloona and the Horseshoe Curve, the Western Maryland Scenic RR, or just passing thru on your way to a Penn State game, we would like to encourage you to pay us a visit.

A number of NS Heritage units have been seen by our guests; those include the Pennsylvania, Southern, Nickel Plate, Reading, Savannah & Atlanta, Lehigh Valley, Penn Central and others.

Reservations will require a deposit, which will be applied to your bill at check-out. Payment at that time may be made in cash or with a check, since we do not accept credit cards.

When you stay at the Tunnel Inn train watching doesn't stop when the sun goes down, as our new and brighter floodlights highlight the mainline action. Our deck roof makes sure that guests stay dry, while the chiminea keeps our guests warm, along with complimentary hot chocolate, tea or coffee.

CANCELLATION POLICY: More than 14 days prior to your stay there is no charge. Within 14 days of your stay, a charge for one night will be assessed.

The Inns' railroad motiff is highlighted by country quilts and shaker furniture. Occupancy is limited to two people per room except for our first floor suite, AR Tower, which can accomodate up to four people, has no stairs and is HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE.

All suites have private baths, cable TV & refrigerators, and high speed wireless internet access. The Inn is non-smoking and air-conditioning in each room is individually controlled.

Children must be over the age of ten (10).

Traffic remains heavy from Thursday through Monday noon, with significant trailer, intermodal and coal train movements; empty hoppers going west and loads headed east. Most coal trains have two or three road units on the point, and one or two sets of helpers on the rear. AMTRAK trains are down to two per day. There are daily meets at the tunnel, either east/west or two westbounds emerging from the tunnel. Recent motive power has included UP, BNSF, and various leased units.

We look forward to having you as our guest, and giving us an opportunity to exceed your expectations.

We regret that due to allergies we are unable to permit guests to bring their pets.

REMEMBER, WHEN YOU STAY AT THE TUNNEL INN,

ONLY THE ENGINEER IS CLOSER TO THE TRAIN!
